A fully enclosed 10,000 tonne per year composting facility.

In-floor aeration allows air to be distributed through the composting material. See AirFloorTM

Design for a 60,000 tonne per year per year composting facility in California.  Our designs meet the California's new Air Quality Management District (AQMD) air quality requirements.

Transform Compost Systems

Conceptual design for a 1000 tonne per year composting facility.  See other Small-Scale systems in Past Projects

Why Transform’s composting technology is superior:
  • Very cost effective -- lower operating costs than other systems
  • Small footprint -- requires less than 20% of space required for windrow composting
  • Environmentally sustainable -- No risk of ground or surface water pollution
  • Odor can be eliminated resulting in easy siting of facilities
  • Facilities can be located close to the waste source and the markets
  • Year-round process control ensures high quality composted product
  • Ensures a consistent and high quality product that yield higher returns

We combine aeration and turning to  produce the highest quality compost in the shortest time.

These systems can range in size from 5,000 to 100,000 tonnes per year capacity. Smaller scale systems are also possible -- see our past projects.  Raw waste is placed in one end and compost is removed from the other end after 4 to 8 weeks. These systems can be totally enclosed and connected to a biofilter in cases where odor may be a concern. Composting temperatures of 55 to 65oC are maintained by powerful centrifugal blowers that provide air to the composting material. The composting material is mixed once or twice weekly using a Compost Turner.

The remote controlled Transform Compost Turner turns the material once to three times weekly. The Turner mixes the material, breaks preferential pathways, and moves the material down the composting channel. A transfer carriage moves the compost turner from one channel to the next. Air for the composting is supplied by three centrifugal blowers to a network of PVC pipes under the composting material. The blowers are controlled by timers and/or temperature feedback.  Temperature monitoring and blower controls can be done through computer control as well.
