Windrow
Compost Facility – Agriculture Canada |
 |
Dr.
John Paul designed and implemented a covered windrow composting
facility at the Pacific Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Research
Center in Agassiz. This facility was and is currently used
for composting greenhouse and field crop wastes, poultry layer
manure and chicken mortalities |

Providing
Design and Equipment for a 200-tonne-per- day Facility in
Quingdao City, China |
 |
| Transform
provided the design, construction manuals, and equipment for
a 200 tonne per day organic waste composting facility in Qingdao,
China. Equipment included compost turners, AirFloor™,
aeration and biofilter blowers, and control systems. This
facility is currently under construction. |

Biosolids
Composting
- District of Kent - |
 |
| Transform
Compost Systems provided blending equipment, distribution
conveyors, screening plant, and computerized aeration system
control for a small biosolids compost facility. |
|
| Use
of Vertical Auger Mixers for CompostingComposting
|
 |
|
Transform
Compost Systems adapted vertical auger mixer for preparing
blends for composting. In 2001, we began to work with Supreme
International to adapt their feed mixing unit for compost
production. |

Development
of Agitated Channel Turners
City of Guelph |
 |
| From
1998, Transform has been developing turners for agitated bed
composting systems. In 2001, Transform provided a turner to
the City of Guelph, which allowed them to optimize their compost
facility and receive additional organics from the City of
Toronto. Transform is now marketing three different types
of agitated channel turners and is continually providing input
to improve design and performance based on operator responses
and requirements |

Design
and Equipment for a 200-tonne-per-day Facility in Welland,
ON |
 |
| Transform
Compost Systems is currently designing a 200-tonne-per-day
food waste, yard waste and IC&I organics facility in Welland
Ontario. Transform Compost will also provide turner, mixer,
aeration and control systems. |

Avian Flu Protocols - 2005 - |
 |
|
During
an outbreak of Avian Flu on a duck and goose farm, Transform
Compost Systems provided the management, developed the protocols,
and trained CFIA staff on composting Avian Flu birds. |
|
| Optimizing
Heat Production and Utilization during Composting
|
 |
| Transform
Compost Systems is currently conducting a research and development
project for composting liquid hog manure at a farm scale.
The project includes an aerated channel system, designing
a new stainless steel mixing system, a heat recovery and reuse
system, and process optimization. |

Poultry
Mortality and Litter Composting during Avian Flu
Abbotsford,
BC - 2004 -
|
 |
| Transform
Compost Systems managed the composting of 1.3 million chickens
at a central location, and implemented safe and cost effective
protocols for on-farm composting of poultry litter from 20
different farms. Many of these farms required unique action
plans depending on the moisture content of the manure, the
configuration of the barns and property, and the potential
limitations to composting outdoors at each site. |
|
| Developing
Practical and Cost Effective Aeration Systems for Aerated
Windrows and Bunkersindrow Compost |
 |
| Transform
Compost Systems and its partners began developing and patenting
the AirFloor™ concept in 2001. This is a system for
aeration and leachate management for compost facilities, including
aerated windrows, aerated bunkers and agitated beds. |
|
|
Implementing
Pilot Food Waste Collection and Composting in the District
of Kent |
 |
| Transform
designed and conducted a pilot scale organic waste collection
and composting program with residents in the District of Kent.
The pilot included organic waste collection systems for the
kitchen, including testing various biodegradable bags. All
organic waste was composted in an aerated bunker and tested
for pathogen kill and quality parameters. |
|
| Compost
Facility Operator Training Courses
|
 |
|
Transform
Compost Systems has designed and implemented three day compost
facility operator training courses. The courses include a
hands on component. Transform has in the past provided compost
operation and compost facility design training to the BC Ministry
of Environment staff as well as community environmental coordinators. |
|
|
Other
projects in progress include:
Dickson and Sons Environmental, New York – design and equipment
for a biosolids compost facility.
Desert Solutions, California – design and equipment for a 73,000-tonne
foodwaste compost facility
Richgro, Australia – design and equipment for a biosolids and chicken
manure composting facility
Concept Engineering, Malaysia – design and equipment for a palm
oil waste composting facility
Slaughterhouse Producers, Kamloops BC – strategy, design and implementation
of several slaughterhouse waste composting facilities.
